Football and food to together like, well, peas and carrots.
Unfortunately, most football party and tailgate foods aren’t kind to your waistline.
If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the game without sabotaging your diet- read on! I have some delicious and guilt-free snacks for your next tailgate.
A must-have at any tailgate is chips and dip, but both are loaded with fat and calories and leave you feeling like Shamu! Here’s what to serve instead:
Instead of store-bought pita chips, make your own! It is actually much easier than you think and you’ll save big time when it comes to calories and sodium. Who wants those greasy, processed bagged chips, anyway? Try them served with my delicious Green Goddess Dip.
Another dip idea: combine low-fat greek yogurt (I like Fage brand) with a little cinnamon and stevia. Serve with fresh fruit for a sweeter snack.
Speaking of greasy and processed, leave the potato chips at the store where they belong. Fill up on yummy kale chips instead! Everyone who tries this recipe is surprised at how good these chips are. And kale is one of the most nutrient-dense foods, it packs a healthy punch in every bite, so you can snack until you’re full and not feel guilty at all.
If you’re in need of more of a meal, look no further than these tasty turkey meatballs. Serve them with some low-sodium tomato sauce or as a finger food!
Have a hungry group and need to give them dinner? Make my Melanie Ash Fitness Fajitas into football fajitas! These are easy to make and you can even let your guests customize their meal by choosing which veggies they want.
Gotta have wings at your bash? Get plain light-meat wings at the store and smoother them in Frank’s Red Hot.
Try these clean, healthy recipes and make your next get-together diet friendly. Football always means food and fun but it doesn’t have to mean fat!
